Sean O’Brien, Sr Forensic Examiner

Mr. O’Brien is a Senior Forensic Examiner at Roloff Digital Forensics, LLC, having joined the company in 2025. With more than two decades of specialized experience in digital forensics, he has supported military criminal investigations as a Senior Digital Forensic Examiner for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) and the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI). In the private sector, he served as a Digital Forensic Investigator and Testifying Expert for both a government contract company as well as a private company.
Throughout his career, Mr. O’Brien has conducted forensic examinations and analysis on a wide range of digital media, supporting complex technical investigations, counterintelligence and counterterrorism operations, as well as federal oversight activities. Between 2023 and 2025, he led the eDiscovery Investigations Division for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General, managing a team of specialists in litigation support and electronic evidence review. From 2014 to 2023, Mr. O’Brien was the sole digital forensic examiner for NCIS across Europe and Africa. During this period, he authored the NATO Standard Operating Procedures for digital forensics, establishing unified investigative practices for all 32 member nations. His international digital forensic assignments have taken him to the United States, Italy, Spain, Estonia, Poland, Turkey, Greece, Germany, Bulgaria, Latvia, Bahrain, Djibouti, and the United Kingdom. Mr. O’Brien holds a Master of Science in Information Systems and a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Security and Management. He has earned multiple professional certifications, including:
